My movie script! tell me what you think so far?
ok so this is the script i’m writing for my horror movie. its about acid rain, and how its killing trees. the lack of oxygen from the trees is driving people crazy and turning them into monsters…so here are the first two scenes…tell me what youd think.feed back is always welcome
this is based losely on the song "THis river is wild" by the Killers
Scene one
camera gets shot of school, students are coming out in swarms, tearing papers etc we learn that it is the last day of school, and summer break has started. Camera flashes to a medium shot of two teenagers. One boy, and one girl. The boy is tall and skinny, he is holding a basket ball under his arm. the girl is mousy looking, she is carrying a video camera. We learn their names are Adam and Kimmie.
kimmie holds up her camera up to adams face, The camera gets a shot from her cams POV of adam shoving the camera away, goofing off.
Kimme: So what are you going to do with yourself now that school’s out Adam? No basketball! (fakes shock)
Adam: shutup Kim, Basketball ended back in the spring,
Kimmie: Then why are you holding that (gestures to ball under his arm with the camera)
Camera goes back to medium shot of them walking away from the school
Adam: Well I was going to go practice a bit on the court behind my house, there’s no such thing as an off season.
Kimmie: (laughs at the cliche) ok whatever you nerd(lowers cam)
close up of adam
Adam: You can come if you want…
close up of Kimmie
Kimmie: Oh no….sports and me do not mix, you see I am a member of the AV club. We are uncordinated by nature.
ADam: You mean you WERE a member of the AV club. It’s summer.
Kimmie: (smiles) yes! that’s right! And you’re coming with me to that acid rain seminar on sunday RIGHT?(playfully punches Adam’s shoulder)
Adam: Not if my life depended on it. (smiles and bounces ball)
Kimmie: Oh come on! It’s actually really interesting!
Camera gets a shot of them walking from the side, they walk out of frame. Adam walks back into frame with his back to cam. He’s looking at a tree right in front of him. Its leaves are orange in color.
Adam: Hey Kimmie…
Kimmie walks into shot next to Adam in same position
Kimmie:What?
Adam: it’s summer right?
Kimmie: Uh yeah…..you just said that yourself…why?
Adam: Look at this tree…its leaves are starting to fall.
Kimmie: that’s wierd…maybe its dying…ACID RAIN!….oh well it’s only one tree. It’s probably old.
Kimmie turns back to the direction they were headed, and starts to walk out of frame, but stops. looking suprised.
Kimmie:Uh….Adam? (points down the street)
Adam: huh? (turns)
The camera turns in the same direction.looks Over their shoulders every tree on the block is orange, red, yellow, brown, or purple.
Adam: woah.
Kimmie:sh*t…
Adam: When did you say that seminar was again?

Adam: well there’s nothing i can do about that now is there? school just ended ma.
Mrs. Wilhern: You know that’s not true (goes back to folding) don’t make me say summer school. Besides, you know you won’t be able to play basketball next year if you’re failing all your classes.
Adam: I didn’t fail all my classes ma. Just english. And honestly I don’t see the big deal, I mean it’s not like I’m gunna use English in real life. I don’t see how knowing Shakespear is going to help me find a job.
Mrs. wilhern: I don’t want to get into this right now Adam, how about we’ll just go with I’m right and you’re wrong because i’m the adult and you’re the kid. Alright?

Adam taking shots from center court, at an outside basketball court. It’s shabby looking and small. He sees a person just a little older than him, standing by the path watching him play. something is off about how he’s standing. He’s slightly hunched, and limps when he walks towards adam. Adam: Oh my god! Jackson! (he looks around trying to figure out what to do.Jackson stops) ….Jackson?
Jackson stands up slowly, and looks at Adam. His eyes widen as he sees him
Jackson: I need to go.
Adam: Here let me help y-
Jackson: (cutting him off again) NO!
He runs away. He no longer limps or is hunched over. Cam gets a long shot of adam kneeling on the pavement with a shocked look on his face.
End scene
It sounds interesting though I too was reminded of The Happening but the people did not turn into monsters, they just committed suicide.
People were already disappoined with M. Night Shyamalan after Unbreakable & onwards. Most people like directors to make the same kind of movies over & over where as his movies are different- they just have a twist at the end of them. I’m a fan of his work.
Though it is similiar, I see the differences so far & feel it has potential. I’m not a screenwriter, film student or director but I love watching movies. Remember not everyone likes the same movies so though some may think the idea is unorginal or uninteresting, don’t give up. I’d be interested in reading more.
Good luck.

your concept sounds similar to Night Shyamalan’s movie The Happening which didn’t do well in the box office.
